North Carolina Escape - Day 6 - 31 March - Hendersonville to Mars

Whoa, what a night it was. We were awakened about 3:30 with what sounded like a tornado. The deck chairs were swirling and my only fear was that they were going to smash the sliding glass doors. It was hard to go back to sleep, but I knew we had a long ride back.

Up for real about 7 and finished getting all our "stuff" together, It was pouring down rain and not very pleasant as Earle packed up the car. Barbara was smart and did it last night.

After some coffee and loading the dishwasher we were on our way.

It was good that we ended up with clear skies around Asheville. Ran into some delays along the way that slowed us for about an hour. Just a brief gas stop around New River Gorge and a chance to grab a drink and we were back on the road.

Stopped at the ACS post office box to retrieve some mail and home by 7:00 p.m. A very long day and drive, but worth it. Even though it was only a few days away, it was so much fun being with good friends, seeing and eating at new places, and having some time to relax.
