Breakfast at 8 this morning before we had to meet our tour group at 9:45. It seems like the adults on this tour are conscious of the time and are even early. That is a good thing,
Off to Key Largo for lunch. We had our choice of Key Bites or Mrs. Macks Two and we chose the latter. It had the feel of an ocean diner with the booths having a glass top that housed memorabilia underneath. Unfortunately, another bus arrived right after ours and so it took a while to get our food. Once it did come we were in a hurry to eat. Hence, I have no pictures. Earle had a root beer float and 1 1/2 pieces of key lime pie. I had a crab cake sandwich and the other half of his pie.
Back on the coach at 1 and we traveled a short distance to Shell World. I was having an issue pairing my PowerBeats head phones so I didn’t go in. I am not really into shells, so that was ok. We then headed back to Miami getting some glimpses of the waterways and vegetation with a bit of a tour of the downtown. Sitting on the wrong side of the coach, I didn’t get photos of some of the murals and the arena where the Heat plays. It was an impressive building.
BALLPARK #22 - We got to LoanDepot Field just about 5:00 and walked around the stadium to see the “Atrocities” as Derek Jeter called the sculpture or whatever else you could call it. He moved it from inside of the stadium to the outside. We walked around the concourse checking out the food and finding the team store to get my ballpark passport stamped. It really is a nice facility and it is a shame that attendance for the Marlins isn’t very good.
The Marlins played the Pirates and we had terrific seats. We knew that Oneil Cruz was a large man, but to see him close up was amazing.
I didn’t do a great job of taking pictures tonight for some reason. Diamond Baseball Tours was the featured group for the night. Earle and I were sitting just to the right of the last people in the photo. Oh, well.
It was a great game with a home run by Jake Marisnik, who just was released from the IL. There were many Pirates fans in attendance and we were excited by the 5-1 win.
Back to the coach and into the hotel by 10:30. We got everything organized for leaving tomorrow and then headed to bed for our 8:00 departure. Off to Tampa!
